Case Study

Every video is produced in three steps: pre-production, production and post-production.

Pre-production
Everything starts with your need to actually get a video. This video can be anything from a corporate, training, sales, safety or induction video... or any other purpose you can imagine!

To begin discussion about your expectations, we need a brief from you. (For more info, go to "What is the Brief?" in the Corporate Video menu.) To make things easier, we can provide a straightforward document with questions about your wishes and expectations. Our questions actually might help you or inspire new ideas. After this, we approach you with our proposal, storyboard, budget, and any further suggestions. 

Once we have bilaterally discussed and approved the project, we can move towards next step: production (filming). 

Production
For our case study, we chose a simple demonstration video we produced for a skin care manufacturer. In this case, we filmed in studio environment and worked with three video layers - table, table + talent, and the background. In the first video , we show the processes we went through until the final video was ready to go online. 

Filming: This is usually the most complicated step in the whole production. We already had approved voice-over text. We read it during filming to enable the talent to demonstrate the required actions at the right pace and order.

Post-production
Keying 1 / 2: In this step we need to clean the background. Usually one keying is enough, but in this case our background was not solid, so we did the keying operation a second time.

Background Selection: The purpose of keying is to eliminate the filmed background and replace it with new one. To select the right background, we need the client's input. Usually we suggest colours that don't clash with colours of the foreground. In this case, a blueish background added a calm feel and contrasted well with the brand colours.

Corrections: Here, you can probably observe the remarkable change of the image. It is because with our software we adjusted colours, light/contrast levels to achieve the most professional look.

Editing - Continuty: In this step, we chose right shots, their duration, order and also continuity of movements.

Skin Softening: We have special software that enables us to soften skin/remove pigmentation, which is important especially if you promote a skincare product.

Logo:  It is important that your video shows your logo as well.

Effects - GFX: Depending of the brief and script, we create 2D/3D effects and graphics which we incorporate into the video.

Digital Voice for Review: When the video track is completed, we start to build the audio track. At first, we add a computer-generated voice-over narration. Of course, it sounds quite terrible! However, it is good enough to show us if the text needs changes before recording the voice-over again with a professional voice-over talent. Also, the computer-generated voice allows us to see if the text fits into the prescribed actions.

Professional Voice: When final copy approved, we discuss the selection of voice-over talent with the client. 

Music: The final step in this production is adding the music.
